Description
Fortified Wine: 1998 | Kopke | Colheita
Bright brown colour with red hues. The aromas of dried fruit are dominant on the nose, yet fresh notes of red fruit (cherry) come delicately to the fore. Elegant and complex on the palate, laden with rich flavours well integrated with the exuberance of spice. Unctuous, delicious and persistent finish.

Reviews:
- Decanter: This is a glorious example, with pungent aromas of orange boxes, fruit zest, hazelnut and almonds, and is rich, satisfying and mellow. Huge depths of complex, smoky flavours.
Producer Information
Kopke is the oldest Port house, founded in 1638. It also produces a range of Douro DOC table wines The business was founded by Nicolau Köpke, the Consul General of the Hamseatic League. He shipped his first wine bottles back to North Europe two years after first moving from Hamburg to Portugal. In 1781 the house bought a farm in the Douro, thereby transitioning from wine shipper to producer, with a greater focus on Port fortified wines. Quinta de São Luiz in the Cima Corgo was purchased in 1922. It has since become the property where all the company’s table wines are produced, and is considered one of the premier wine farms in the region.
