Description

Brenne Ten is a beautifully layered French single malt that merges buttery sweetness with refined oak structure. It offers approachable elegance, rich fruit-forward character, and subtle spice—making it just as comfortable for gentle sipping as it is for deeper contemplation.

Origins & Craftsmanship

Produced in the Cognac region of France by the Brenne distillery, Brenne Ten begins with 100% estate-grown, organic heirloom barley. The spirit is twice distilled in traditional alembic stills before aging for about ten years in a combination of new French Limousin oak plus Cognac-cask finish barrels. The choice of French oak and Cognac-influenced curing imparts a refined, uniquely French interpretation of single malt whisky. The water used is drawn from the local Charente river, and the entire production—from grain to bottle—is managed on the estate.

Tasting Profile

Nose: Aromas of vanilla bean, crème brûlée, stewed apricot and passion fruit rise first, followed by subtle caramelized orange peel, toasted bread crust, and a hint of clove spice.
Palate: Smooth and medium-bodied. The fruit moves into richer territory—brandied cherry, baked apple, and fig—accompanied by almond paste, toffee, and gentle wood spice (cinnamon, nutmeg). The French oak framework brings restraint and polish.
Finish: Long and elegant. The sweetness softens into warm oak tannin, a faint peppery kick, and lingering dried-fruit echoes. The finish remains refined and dry rather than overly sweet.

“Golden and delicately perfumed with peach, white flowers and tropical fruit, this newly-launched 10-year-old French single-malt whisky shows coconut, almond, vanilla and tapers off gently with cinnamon and clove. Add a splash of water or a cube of ice to soften the alcohol sting (it’s 96 proof, after all). Aged in a mix of new French oak and old XO Cognac casks.” Wine Enthusiast 93 Points

“A demure nose beguiles a powerful, malt-driven whiskey that has layers of caramel, roasted apple, and toasted brioche. Then from under all of this rises a toasty smoke that coats the tongue and drives the long finish.” 92 Points 2022 Ultimate Spirits Challenge
