Sensory :

The wine pours a bright straw yellow with greenish glints, signaling freshness from the start. Aromas of crisp pear, broom, and almond blossoms drift upward, expanding into lush notes of white peach and delicate Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is juicy and expressive, showcasing ripe white orchard fruit balanced by lively acidity. A pronounced saline edge, true to the vineyard’s proximity to the sea, lends tension and length, culminating in a refreshing, mouthwatering finish.

Winemaker’s Background:

A third-generation grower, Marilena Barbera farms the Tenuta Belicello vineyards her grandfather planted nearly a century ago. She is one of Sicily’s leading voices for native varietals and natural winemaking, championing grapes such as Inzolia, Perricone, Grillo, Nero d’Avola, and Alicante. Working only with spontaneous fermentations and minimal intervention, she allows the maritime terroir of Menfi, its sandy dunes, clay-calcareous soils, and sea-breeze influence, to speak clearly in every wine. Her commitment to biodiversity and sustainability has made Cantine Barbera a benchmark for authentic coastal Sicilian expression.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve well-chilled at 10–12°C (50–54°F) to showcase its freshness and salty lift. Perfect with rich fish dishes, grilled prawns, Moroccan-spiced cuisine, couscous, citrus-based salads, grilled vegetables, or simply alongside a seaside aperitivo. Its texture and minerality also pair beautifully with soft cheeses and herb-driven dishes.

With its brightness, minerality, and breezy coastal charm, the 2024 Cantine Barbera “Tivitti” Inzolia Menfi is a wine that embodies the Mediterranean, is easy to love, is expressive of place, and is endlessly refreshing.
