Named after Simon Antonius Rutte who founded the distillery, where this jenever is still made based upon his original recipe, in 1872. Old Simon comprises a generous two-fifths malt wine with three-fifths grain alcohol infused and re-distilled with juniper berries and 13 other botanicals. Although the complete list of 13 botanicals is a closely guarded secret, it is known that these include: coriander, angelica, mace, fresh berries, celery, toasted hazelnuts and roasted walnuts – the two nuts greatly influence the flavour of this genever.

Distillery Information
The Rutte family has been maturing Dutch gins in casks from the very beginning, when it wasn’t customary to do so. In earlier centuries, Dordrecht became a city of high importance for the wine trade thanks to its riverside location. That’s why Rutte traded in wine; it was sold in their own shop and used in its products.
