Helios Distillery has release a 21-year-old aged version of its Teeda craft rum. It was distilled in 1998 and a limited release of only 2500 bottles was released by the Matsuda family in 2020. This rum is distilled from local cane sugar molasses in a copper pot still. The sugar cane enjoys mineral-rich soils with a tropical climate and an average temperature of 22.5°C, this archipelago is the only place in Japan able to grow sugar cane.

Teeda 21 Year Old Japanese Rum | 750ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Finesse and refinement with a soft side and liquorice notes.

Palate: Beautifully persistent, straight-lined, ending with chocolate notes and a delicate touch of vanilla.

Finish: Lingering and soft despite its 48% strength.

Distillery Information

The Helios Distillery in Okinawa was founded in 1961. The distillery erected itself on the concept of making liquor from ingredients of the land. The location of the distillery is surrounded by lush, local nature and high-quality water. Typically, the distillery produces rum alongside various other types of liquor. The 5-Year-Old Teeda expression is a blend of pot still rums which are aged in bourbon barrels. It is bottled at 5 years old and has flavours of oak char with spicy cinnamon notes, maple syrup with an apricot finish.
